Meet Your New Community Resource
Deputy
Born in Atlanta, Sun City Center's newest Community Resource Deputy, Jeff Merry, earned his bachelor's degree in
Political Science and Criminal Justice from Valdosta State University. He began his law enforcement career with the Hall County Sheriff's Office.
His duties as a Hall County Deputy included jail deputy, patrol deputy, economic crime detective, and lead economic
crime detective. During his law enforcement career, he has completed over 400 hours of specialized law enforcement training
from the Georgia Bureau of Investigations, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, the National White Collar Crime Center,
the Department of Homeland Security, the Security Service, and the Southeastern Public Safety Institute. Jeff earned his Master's Degree jn Public Administration with
a concentration in Law Enforcement Administration in 2005. Afterward he taught College Courses. He began his career with Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office (HCSO) in
2011. While with the HCSO, he has been assigned to patrol and the district intelligence unit. In addition, he served as a member of a Homeland Security Investigations
task force which was comprised of the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office, the Department of Homeland Security, the Florida
Department of Law Enforcement and other Law enforcement agencies. The task force was created to investigate criminal organizations
involved in Bank Fraud, Wire Fraud, Identity Theft, and Money Laundering.

forms of economic crime.
Sheriff’s Office presents monthly
forum
The Hillsborough County
Sheriff's
Office is committed to serving, protecting, and defending the community and is
continuing to do so by offering a monthly open forum on Economic Fraud and its
growing trend with the advancement of technology. Beginning in June, the
Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office will conduct a monthly presentation on a
different economic fraud topic. These forums will identify new and growing
economic frauds occurring within the community. The presentations will include
strategies for preventing fraud and resources available to victims. Each
presentation will be conducted three (3) times a month at different locations
within Sun City Center:
¨ The second Tuesday of the month at the Kings Point Ripple Room,
located at 1900 Clubhouse Drive, Sun City Center, at 1:00 p.m.
¨ The second Wednesday of the month at the Sun City Center Security Patrol
Boardroom, located at 1009 N. Pebble Beach Blvd, Sun City Center, at 9:00 a.m.
¨ The third Wednesday of the month at American Momentum Bank, located at
131 S. Pebble Beach Blvd, Sun City Center, at 2:00 p.m.
In June, the presentation will be about Technology and Social
Security Number fraud. In July, the presentation will be about New Technology
in Check Fraud.
Each seminar is open to the public and will be sponsored by various businesses
that will provide resource materials and refreshments.

NOTE: The same law that
applies to Golf Carts in Greater Sun City Center, also applies to Golf Carts in Kings Point:
That means, "Golf Carts may be operated only during the hours between sunrise and
sunset." Golf Carts are not to be driven, between the hours of sunset and sunrise, even if
equipped with headlights, brake lights, turn signals and a windshield. If you do, and get
caught, you may be given a Traffic Citation. (EXCEPTION) KINGS POINT ROADS ARE PRIVATE ROADS: Kings Point Residents may drive
their golf carts, after dark only on their private roads! If caught leaving Kjngs Point, after dark, they will be issued a
Ciation.
Compliments of the S.C.C. Area Chamber of Commerce,
the new "GREATER SUN CITY CENTER GOLF CART DRIVERS HANDBOOK", has been published and is ready
for distribution.
The Greater S.C.C. Golf Cart Drivers Handbook can be
picked up at the Chamber of Commerce, unless directed otherwise by the Chamber of Commerce.

The new paving of the Southside
Golf Cart Path is completed.
The reports I have been getting are positive; everyone seems satisfied and happy to have a much safer path.
We

Resource Deputy "Jeff Merry". Will Present a very Informative "Safety & Security Seminar" in the Kings Point North
Clubhouse; Also in the SunTrust Bank. All Residents are welcome! Attend this Seminar; and keep informed with what's
going on in Sun City Center and our surrounding Area. We are are in good hands with a Beputy who
has some very appropriate background in white collar crime in Hillsborough County, And he knows his way around. He looks
forward to communicating his findings to the residents , while running down the local perpetrators when possible.
